About Course

The origin of WP

WordPress is a really popular way for people to make websites. It started out as a simple blog tool but grew into something bigger and easier to use. In this course, we will learn about where WordPress came from and what makes it special. We will also look at how many people use WordPress and why it’s important to know about it if you want to make a website.

WordPress originated in 2003 as a blogging platform created by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little. It started as a simple tool for publishing content online, but over time, it evolved into a full-fledged content management system (CMS). Its open-source nature and user-friendly interface quickly gained popularity, leading to widespread adoption for various types of websites beyond just blogs.

WP usage today

Today, WordPress is used to create more than one-third of all the websites on the internet, which makes it the most popular way to build websites around the world.
